Dr. Vasileios Drakopoulos participated in the 20th Pan-Hellenic Transplant Conference, which ends today, December 1st, in Ioannina. Dr. Drakopoulos – during the Living Donor Nephrectomy Debate – presented his experience at “Evangelismos” General Hospital of Athens in Laparoscopic Nephrectomy from Living Donor for Kidney Transplantation method, a method first applied in Greece at the 1st Surgery Clinic & Organ Transplant Unit of the hospital and has been successfully applied since then.
Laparoscopic kidney removal from a living donor for kidney transplantation is the method of choice and is internationally apllied at all major transplant centers. The safety and benefits of the method are unquestionable and are now bibliographically confirmed.
