28 Dec Laparoscopic Total Colectomy
Dr Vasileios Drakopoulos performed a successful Laparoscopic Total Colectomy on a woman aged 58 y.o., who suffered from colon cancer. The laparoscopic approach offers – compared to traditional, open surgery – less loss of blood, less postoperative pain, rapid recover and return to everyday life, while it offers equally good oncological results. The procedure took place at the 1st Surgery Clinic & Organ Transplant Unit, with the contribution of Dr. Nikolaos Roukounakis, assisted by Dimitris Konstantinou and Constantinos Botsakis, the Anesthesiology Department and the Nursing Staff of the Hospital.
